Our Services - Introduction
Wessex Partnerships offers a comprehensive service package comprising strategy development, accessing public and private finance and project implementation.

Our client base includes a range of publicly funded agencies, local authorities, education institutions, industry sector groups and the community and voluntary sector.

Our aim is to provide consulting and advisory services dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each and every one of our clients.

Wessex Partnerships staff have a wealth of practical experience, providing support for projects of every type in the fields of economic development, urban and rural regeneration for over 15 years both in the UK and internationally.

Our particular strength lies in accessing UK and European funding for both small and large scale projects. We specialise in understanding the technical requirements of complex funding streams in order to provide clarity and focus to inform and support our clients.

Wessex Partnerships has provided consulting and advisory services (from a range of UK and European sources) to its clients to write successful bids and gain additional funding to enhance or extend vital service provision.

Our experience of writing successful bids over the last 7 years has led to more than 80 projects being funded from various UK and European sources totalling in excess of £15m.

Strategic Development
Aims and objectives…
We can help client partners develop an overall strategy and determine which projects and programmes will best support this strategy.

It is vital to take a strategic view of the needs of an organisation’s intended beneficiaries and frame these in a funding plan. Strategic objectives can deal with such issues as employment creation, training, raising educational achievement, improving health and preventing crime.

A successful programme will be based on sound analysis of what each project can contribute to the overall strategic aims and objectives. It will need make the most of what is going on around it - harnessing the power of existing agencies and service providers - plugging gaps and avoiding duplication.

We will help a local economic development organisation to develop its overall strategy and which projects will best support this strategy. We can consider implementation measures and help define and maximise your partnership role. We will analyse implications of key developments for your organisation as and when they happen. We can assist in strengthening the local role with partners by:

Financial and Contract Management
The tools needed to administer a successful project…
As part of our ongoing project support, a service particularly valued by our clients is the contract and financial management to aid the smooth operation of the project.

Proposals that have been successful in a competitive bidding round require considerable attention to ensure that management and financial information is captured from the outset to satisfy the funding providers.

It is essential that adequate monitoring systems are in place from the beginning of the project. Wessex Partnerships will help customers set up such systems and provide an on-going service to aid the smooth operation of the project.

We will help to ensure that projects remain on course, tasks are allocated and undertaken to meet required timescales and funders’ requirements and that appropriate management information is collected so that partners know how work is progressing.

We will help clients to set up robust systems to ensure that management, output and financial information is captured from the outset to satisfy funding sponsors and also provide project managers with an on-going service to aid the smooth operation of each project.

Managing over 80 projects funded from a range of UK and European sources has enabled us to build up a technical expertise as well as considerable experience of dealing with the financial management aspects.

Research and Evaluation
Assisting the planning process…
Wessex Partnerships’ track record in project implementation is complemented by its skill base in the field of research and evaluation.

Recent and relevant research is required for an organization or partnership on which to base the remit of its work. Research into intended beneficiary needs is an important part of the construction of proposals for funding, to demonstrate a necessary awareness to the funding body and ensure that the proposed project has the greatest chance of successful implementation.

Wessex Partnerships has expertise in and access to a wide range of economic research material to help identify the key requirements of a local economy, industry sector, specific theme or community.

We have a strong research-based track record with an in-depth knowledge of labour market issues and trends, current training policy and practice, industry sector trends, business trends and needs as well as covering themes such as technology and social inclusion.

Most national and EU / international projects and policies have a requirement to be independently evaluated both in terms of their absolute outcomes and the cost efficiency of alternative methods for achieving outcomes.

We can objectively evaluate the design, development and delivery of your project, offering greater validity to the findings of the exercise than would be possible with an in-house evaluation and ensure that future work learns from past experience and builds on good practice.
