Grant for Research & Development
Grant for Research & Development (R&D) aims to help start-ups and SMEs carry out research and development work on technologically innovative products and processes at the pre-production phase that you would not necessarily undertake without a grant. Grants for R&D are awarded to 5 types of projects;
- Proof of Market,
- Research,
- Micro Development,
- Development
- Exceptional Projects
Grants range from £5,000-£20,000 for proof of market and micro development projects through to £20,000 to £100,000 for research projects and up to £250,000 for development projects. Grants for exceptional projects - those projects that develop new technologies that are of strategic importance to an industrial sector and national competitiveness – range from £20,000 to £250,000 for research projects and up to £500,000 for development projects. Grants range from 35% to 60% total eligible project costs depending on the project type and the size of your business.
